Microsoft je americká technologická spoločnosť so sídlom v Redmonde v USA. Spoločnosť bola založená v roku 1975. Zakladateľmi spoločnosti sú Bill Gates a Paul Allen. Microsoft patrí k najbohatším spoločnostiam na svete. Vyrábajú, vyvíjajú, licencujú a podporujú širokú škálu produktov pre rôzne zariadenia. Medzi ich najznámejšie a najobľúbenejšie produkty patrí operačný systém Windows, taktiež aj rodina produktov Microsoft Office. Okrem iného do portfólia Microsoftu patria aj herne konzoly Xbox. V roku 2019 investovali 1 mld. USD do spoločnosti OpenAI, ktorá sa zaoberá vývojom umelej inteligencie a stojí za vývojom ChatGPT. Microsoft začiatkom roku 2023 oznámil ďalšiu investíciu do OpenAI v hodnote 10 mld. USD, čím získajú až 75% podiel na zisku z ChatGPT. Umelú inteligenciu už Microsoft začlenil do svojho prehliadača Bing, čim si získal milióny užívateľov. Okrem toho sa umelá inteligencia stala aj súčasťou operačného systému Windows 11 . Umelá inteligencia je vnímaná ako budúcnosť, preto aj najväčšie technologické spoločnosti investujú do vývoja umelej inteligencie desiatky miliárd USD.
